Recently, investment and financing activities in the space laser communication sector have been heating up, with a number of technologically sophisticated startups successively securing new rounds of funding with capital backing.
On December 16, Beijing LaserPost announced the completion of a tens-of-millions-of-yuan angel round financing; on November 26, Lighteek finalized nearly 100 million yuan in Pre-A round financing; prior to that, Shanghai Yufan Photonics officially completed its Pre-A+ round financing.
These three "dark horse" enterprises in the laser communication field—all founded less than two years ago—have rapidly gained recognition from government funds, industrial capital, and professional investment institutions, thanks to their core technological breakthroughs in high-speed satellite-ground/satellite-satellite laser communication.
01 LaserPost
"Dark Horse" Secures Angel Round Financing
On December 16, 2025, Beijing LaserPost Technology Co., Ltd. announced the completion of a tens-of-millions-of-yuan angel round financing, led by CASStar. Founded in November 2024, this young company is bringing a groundbreaking technology to the forefront of industrialization.
Originating from nearly 20 years of scientific research accumulation by Professor Wu Jian’s team at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), LaserPost has successfully commercialized three core invention patents. The company is committed to building high-bandwidth, high-reliability, and low-cost end-to-end satellite-ground laser communication links, with its product roadmap targeting the next-generation 100G satellite-ground laser communication system.
In December 2024, in collaboration with Changguang Satellite, LaserPost successfully completed an ultra-high-speed 100Gbps remote sensing image transmission experiment using this technology. The single-pass data transmission volume exceeded 10 terabits, reaching the international advanced level.
In the second half of 2025, the company further advanced high-orbit constellation Earth communication experiments based on mode diversity reception combined with adaptive optics technology, and made progress in the feasibility verification of satellite-ground laser feeder links for low-orbit communication constellations.
02 Lighteek Technology:
Near-100-Million-Yuan Pre-A Round Secured
On November 26, 2025, another industry "dark horse"-Lighteek Technology - completed nearly 100 million yuan in Pre-A round financing. The lead investor was Changchun's municipal industrial fund, Changxing Fund, with multiple government-backed funds at provincial, municipal, and district levels participating, forming a strategic synergy of three-tier industrial capital.
Lighteek Technology's product line comprehensively covers satellite-borne, airborne, and ground-based laser communication terminals, with its products already ranking among the industry's top performers in terms of miniaturization, low power consumption, and high bandwidth.
Currently, Lighteek Technology is fully advancing in-orbit verification missions for inter-satellite and satellite-ground laser communications. The company has strong technical capabilities and has established Jilin Province's first digital production line for space laser communication terminals and a full-parameter testing center, with R&D and production facilities exceeding 7,500 square meters.
Lighteek Technology stated that after the financing, the company will continue to focus on the main channel of space laser communication, ensure the successful completion of in-orbit verification missions, and accelerate the construction of mass delivery capabilities.
03 Yufan Photonics
Two Rounds of Funding in One Year
On November 27, news revealed that Yufan Photonics, a provider of laser communication optical transmission link solutions, has officially completed its Pre-A+ round of financing. This is the second time the "dark horse" in the laser communication industry has received strong support from the capital market in 2025, following its successful Pre-A round in August.
Investors in this round include Hubei Changfei Angel Venture Capital Fund and Guangzhou Science City Venture Capital Management Co., Ltd., demonstrating the capital market's continued optimism about its technology roadmap and growth potential.
Founded in November 2023, Yufan Photonics is one of the earliest domestic enterprises to engage in commercial space laser communication development. The company focuses on independent research and product breakthroughs in inter-satellite high-speed laser communication technology, having established a complete product chain from laser light sources, optical amplification, optical modulation to backend reception.
Crucially, all its core components have achieved 100% localization and successfully passed strict aerospace-grade verification. As of November 2025, Yufan Photonics's products have accumulated thousands of hours of stable in-orbit operation, having successfully participated in multiple national key model projects, with their reliability and stability tested in the harshest environments.
04 Behind the Funding Frenzy:
Space-Air-Ground Integration Spurs a Massive Market
The consecutive financings of these three companies reflect the explosive potential of the space laser communication industry.
At the policy level, the "15th Five-Year" Plan clearly lays out aerospace power and 6G development, with the surge in satellite numbers and data volume forcing upgrades to satellite-ground links. Technically, laser communication has become the inevitable choice for space-air-ground network integration due to its advantages of high bandwidth, low power consumption, and anti-jamming capabilities. Capital-wise, government funds and industrial capital are working together to accelerate the transition of technology from laboratories to industrialization.
Looking ahead, as high-orbit/low-orbit constellation construction advances, demand for laser communication terminals will grow exponentially. Industry experts predict that 2025-2030 will be the golden period for the industry, with the funding frenzy likely to continue heating up.
The rise of these three space laser communication "dark horses" represents not only capital's recognition of individual company value but also the market's firm optimism about the future prospects of the entire space laser communication track.
